About me

My name is Guy and I have worked as a data scientist in various capaicities and been teaching statistics and research methods classes at the post-secondary level for over 10 years. I have taught at York University and Toronto Metropolitan University, in programs ranging from Public Administration to Health Studies.

My relationship to quantitative information has been developing since I was a child. Originally, my fascination was fixed on statistics from professional sports. I would try to (poorly) predict the likelihood of my team, The Canadiens, winning based on goals against averages and shots per game. This obsession with numbers followed me to the post-secondary level where I was introduced to the field of data analytics, which resulted in my pursuing data analysis and programming throughout my academic and professional career.

I hold a PhD in Policy Studies from Ryerson University (now TMU) and an MA in Health Policy from York University. Additionally, I have several certificates related to data analytics. I have been involved in data projects in health, politics, public administration, and business. This has included survey design and validation, the creation and management of large datasets, designing data in-take and verification systems, and the analysis of secondary datasets from a variety of sources.

Away from my ThinkPad, I am an avid martial artist (I currently hold a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and orange belt in Krav Maga), DIY enthusiast, home cook, and powerlifter.
